Lois was born March 7, 1922 in Roanoke, Virginia to John Frederick Harp and Alice Margaret Munday Harp.
Lois grew up in Roanoke and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1939.
She attended Mary Washington College, where she earned a two year diploma in business.
Upon graduation, Lois moved to Washington, D. C. for a job with the federal government.
There she met her future husband, John F. Carroll of Providence, RI.
They married in 1944 and moved back to Roanoke a year later.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Harp Gochenhour, Peggy's husband, Lloyd, and her daughter-in-law, Belinda Stone Carroll. Lois is survived by her 4 sons, Jack (Marilyn); Mike (Rhonda), Dave, Joe (Linda), and her 2 daughters, Judy Sower (Vic), and Mary Pat Walker.
Lois is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Other close family members include John Gochenour, Cindy Gochenour, and Carol Carroll.
Lois was a kind and compassionate person who always put the needs of her family, friends and others ahead of her own.
Lois was a long time member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church.
