DeWitt Malone Shy, Jr died April 28, 2017 after a long illness. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee. DeWitt was a graduate of Presbyterian Day School where he won a scholarship to the Memphis University School. He attended Stanford University, graduated from the University of Virginia and then Vanderbilt Law School

He was a partner at Burch, Porter, and Johnson Law Firm where he was very successful at litigation for many of our country's large corporations and he was named as one of the best lawyers in this country.

He was kind, loyal, loving, brave, tolerant and fun. He loved music and during high school was the drummer in his band the Jinx. They made several records and were locally sought after.

DeWitt was a member of the Memphis Country Club where he enjoyed his friends and playing squash. He deeply loved and greatly admired Laura Miller Shy, his two children, Sydney Miller Shy and DeWitt Malone Shy, III.

DeWitt leaves his mother, Flo Britton Campbell; his brothers, Robert Shy (Martha) and Sellers Shy (Stephanie) and sister, Genevieve Chapman (Clarence).
