Mrs. Stanley died peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Oakhaven in Oakleaf Village in Lexington, S.C. Born in Lincoln County, N.C., she was the youngest child of the late William Everette and Georgia Mae Wilson Propst. Mrs. Stanley was the wife of the late Sgt. Maj. Carroll O. Stanley , U.S. Army (Ret.).
Before her marriage, Mrs. Stanley worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C. in the fingerprint division. As a military wife for over 30 years, she traveled and lived in many locations in the United States and Europe. She was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church in Columbia.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Georganna and John Claytor of Columbia; five grandchildren, John G. Claytor of Huntersville, N.C., Kazian Shull of Columbia, Kensla Crapps of Joanna, Joshua Claytor, Jordan Claytor, both of Columbia; six great-grandchildren, Caleb Price, Madalind Melton, Lauren Shull, Keeley Claytor, all of Columbia, Ashley and Chris Veal of Joanna and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stanley is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Beulah and Bill Boyles of Vale, N.C.; sister-in-law, Helen Propst, of Maiden, N.C., and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff of Oakleaf Village, Oakhaven and Compassionate Care Hospice for the wonderful care Mrs. Stanley received during her final months.
