Hazel Kirk Scott, 88, formerly of Maplewood Terrace Apartments, died Saturday in Heritage House Convalescent Center after a lengthy illness.
A native of Huntington, W. Va., she was Huntington city clerk treasurer during the 1920s. Mrs. Scott was also head bookkeeper for Lucky Strike Tobacco Co. in Huntington.
She moved to New Castle during the 1940s where she was active in Henry County politics. Mrs. Scott was a member of Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sisters, Aldine K. McDaniel, Alta Ankeney and Ruth Haehl; and a brother, William Kirk.
Her husband, Ross, died in 1980. He was a former New Castle police chief.
