Bill Miles, age 73, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017. He is survived by his only brother, Rev. Taras (Michael) Miles of Richardton, North Dakota and his soul mate, Maggie Morse. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mary Jane(Gillespie) Miles.
He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Notre Dame University (BA) and the University of Miami (MFA). In 1967, he moved to Alaska where he lived for 35 years, active in flying, skydiving, softball and politics. He worked as far north as the Arctic Ocean and as far south as McMurdo, Antarctica as a truck driver, bartender, advertising executive, lobbyist and free-lance writer. He was appointed to positions by three Alaskan governors and was elected to two
terms in the Alaska House of Representatives. He served as a board member for the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Anchorage Tenants Union, Alaska Continental Bank, Alaska State Housing Authority, City Mortgage Company, Our Lady of Compassion Hospital and the Salvation Army.
Interment will be at Anchorage Memorial Cemetery. No service is planned. Brett FH
