Son of Joseph Cantara.

He was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard, and when the United States entered WWI he entered the U.S. military, in Co. B, 103rd Machine Gun Battalion. He served in France, and was reported missing and later wounded in August of 1918. He recovered and returned home arriving in Boston 17 April 1919 on the steamship, Patricia. He was mustered out of the army at Capt Devens MA.

By 1920 he was living in Claremont NH with his brother George, and working in a mill. He was only 35 years old when he died. He has a military marker that was ordered and placed by the Hooksett American Legion Post 37.
