Son of Alfred J. Gaylord (1855-1908) and Helen Amelia "Nellie" Ormbsy (1860-1926). Carl married Lillian Maude Webster in 1908. Carl and Lillian had 9 children: Margorie, Ruth, Mildred, Betty, Robert, Janice, Carl, Jr., Donald and William. On a trip to Indiana, Carl fell ill and died at the age of 41. His body was returned to the family, and he was buried in Stow Cemetery. A Magnolia "shrub" was planted in remembrance near his headstone. The Magnolia grew into a large tree and displaced Carl's headstone.
