Richard Shawn Chesley returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father and his oldest sister Pamela on Monday Feb. 18, 2002 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Richard was born September 10, 1961 in Murray Utah.

He is survived by his wife Yesmin Berrios Chesley ( Venezuela ); parents Evan and Gwen Winn Chesley; brothers: Dennis (Debra) of St. George, Utah; Marion (Kim) of Portland, Tennessee; Douglas of Salt Lake City; and Randy of Logan, Utah; sister, Vie (Dennis) of Draper, Utah. He is preceded in death by his sister Pamela (Bill) Lee of Mt. Pleasant, Utah.

Richard had a great love of the outdoors, nature and people. He spent many hours hiking, exploring, rock climbing, scuba diving, and sharing his love for nature with his family, friends, and his favorite outdoor companion, his Yellow Lab Jackson. He had a special love for his nieces and nephews, and shared many of his adventures with them. He spent many hours doing compassionate service for the elderly and handicapped.

A funeral service will be held Friday February 22nd at the River Oaks Stake Center, 8950 So 1300 W, at 12 noon. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, and from 10:30-11:30 prior to the service at the church. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.
