Raymond Coleman, age 96 of Springfield, Mo. passed away in Highland Village, TX. on April 27th, 2017. He was born on May 16, 1920 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Lee and Jessie Coleman of Chillicothe. Raymond met his wife Virginia, at Chillicothe Business College and they were united in marriage on August 2, 1941 in Bryan, OH. Raymond served in the army as a 1st lieutenant in WWII and was a pilot of a B24. After the war, they lived in Monett and he worked as a railway mail clerk.
They moved to Springfield in 1968 where Raymond worked in the Glenstone post office. Raymond enjoyed hunting and was an avid golfer. Raymond and Virginia lived in Springfield for 46 years and were members of the Mayflower Society and of Grace United Methodist Church for 50 years.
Raymond is survived by his daughter Connie and son-in-law Roger Gray, grandchildren Steven Gray and his wife Tammy, Susan Gray Whaples and her husband Mike, 5 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, Kaitlyn Gray, Daley and Kaitlyn Whaples.
A funeral service at the Springfield Veterans Cemetery.
