Mrs. Willa Mae Allen, 82, wife of the late Freeman S. Allen of Plantation Road went home to be with her Lord and Savior at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Allen was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late William P. and Kate R. Barnhill.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Doug Barnhill, Betty Hedemark, Joe Barnhill and Billy Wayne Barnhill.

Mrs. Allen helped her late husband operate the Red and White Grocery Store in their hometown of Aynor, SC. She was also employed with Russell Stover’s in Marion, and she retired from the Horry County Sheriff’s office after many years of service. In between these jobs, Mrs. Allen could be found tending to her grandchildren.

She was a faithful devoted member of Berea Baptist Church where she enjoyed sharing a pew with her family. Mrs. Allen taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School along with being a member of the Red Hats at Berea Baptist Church.

Mrs. Allen was the loving mother of two sons, their rock, Steve Allen and his wife Debra, Mike Allen and his wife Mary, four grandchildren, Heath Allen (Ruby), Natasha Staples (Johnny), Angie Hilburn (Randy), Nicole Graham (Kenyon) all of Aynor, nine great grandchildren, Tanner Freeman Allen, Kenslie Mikah Graham, Mary-Elaine Staples, Dock Allen Hilburn, John-Michael Staples, Chloe Irene Graham, Eli Mitchell Allen, Eva Grace Hilburn, and Coleman Dean Graham. Mrs. Allen was a woman who loved deep and strong. This is not good bye Momma, only later.

Funeral services with the Rev. Johnny Jenerette officiating will be held 11:00 AM Monday May 1, 2017 at Berea Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
