Jessie Carl King went home to be with his Lord on March 9, 2017 following a long, full life. He was born in McLean, Texas to Julius Garland and Ruby Lee King on April 14, 1927. Jessie attended school in Mertens, Texas when he met the love of his life, Dathon Faye King. The two married on June 21, 1945.

The couple moved often due to him being in the Army and his job with Southern Pacific Pipeline. They lived in Texas, Colorado, Ohio, New Jersey and settling in Niland, CA in January 1956. As well as his pipeline job, Jessie served the town of Niland as their Fire Chief for 36 years. Following their retirement and to escape the summer heat, they traveled to Gunnison, CO in their RV. There they enjoyed camping and fishing with his brother Leon and his wife Doris.

Jessie enjoyed spending time with his sons as they worked on the boys cars together, helping his daughter with her FFA animal projects for the fair, spending time with all the family and loving on his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to church, watching sports on TV, especially NASCAR, of which he had attended several races.

Services for Jessie will be held Monday, March 20 at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. followed by Chapel Service at 10 a.m. Jessie will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery after the service.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Dathon; son, Wendell in 2010 and his parents. Jessie is survived by Children, Michael (Margaret) King, Carlton (Penny) King, and Patricia (Jose) Diaz; daughter-in-law, Sherry King; 11 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Tyson; brothers, Leon (Doris) King, Johnny (Ann) King, and Neal King; brother-in-law, Arthur (Debbie) Reaves; and numerous nieces and nephews all living in Texas. The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Jessies name to the charity of your choice.
