Andrew Leon Preston Jr., 75, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born April 12, 1942, in West Virginia. He retired as a social worker for the State of Kentucky. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era and retired from the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer for American Red Cross, Colonial Nursing Home, and Bardstown at Home. He was a member of Bardstown Optimist Club, and a very active member of Bardstown Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew M. and Mary Inez Harris Preston; one stepson, Joseph Mike Payne; and his stepfather, Charles King (should be Charles Semper).
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Preston of Bardstown; one daughter, Erin Preston (Gary) Pennington of Louisville; two sisters, Charlene (Richard) King and Theresa Johns, both of Martinsville, Va.; two stepdaughters, Joyce Payne and Robin (Wayne) Julien, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two stepsons, Harry Payne Jr. of Miami, Fla. and David (Anissi) Payne of Bardstown; one sister-in-law, Josephine Phillips of Bardstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at the Bardstown Church of God with Pastor David L. Calvert officiating. Burial is in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, and 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
