Abilene, TX

Dwayne Daniel 65, of Abilene, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, in North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St. Interment will follow in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. ~ 2:00 P.M. Monday.

Mr. Daniel was born March 11, 1952 in San Angelo, Texas to Marvin and Annie (Young) Daniel. Dwayne was an accomplished musician, playing the trumpet throughout his life, beginning about the age of ten. He played as lead trumpet in the Salvation Army Band in his early years, which led to his playing "Taps" for many years for military memorial services and civic functions. He played in the San Angelo High School Band, Angelo State College Band and the San Angelo Symphony. From there, he moved to playing with the bands of La Familia, Little Joe and the Latinaires, Tortilla Factory and NBC orchestra, as well as, the band Chicago.

In his later years, he worked at the Casa Herrera Restaurant in Abilene as a member of his wife's family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bobbie Daniel, brother, Bobby W. Daniel and his sister, Maurine Jones.

He is survived by his children Amy Watkins and husband Donnie, Dusty Daniel and wife Alexis, Lindy Walker and husband Ben, Roland Solis and wife Erica, Sophie Rosales and husband Tony and Victoria Herrera. His grandchildren, Annie, Justis, Mattie, Zach, Jonathan, Jacob, Andrea and Alyssa.

Dwayne made friends easily and was loved by all who knew him.
