Jack Rexford Umphrey, age 85, of Covington, died April 24, 2014. A native of Douglasville, GA, Mr. Umphrey lived most of his life in the greater Atlanta area. Retired Southeast Parts Manager of Tri State Tractor Company, he was a lifelong Southern Baptist with membership at Zion Baptist Church in Covington and formerly at Rainbow Park Baptist in Decatur, and White Oak Hills Baptist in Atlanta and Stone Mountain. Mr. Umphrey was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Patty Louise Johnson Umphrey; sons, Robert Joe Umphrey and Michael Alan Umphrey, and brothers, Pat, Ted, and Chris Umphrey. He is survived by children, Martha (David) Clay of Snellville, Ronnie Umphrey (Debbie Cope) of Conyers, and Miriam (Bobby) Kidd of Windermere FL; daughter-in-law, Debra Umphrey of Monticello; sisters-in-law, Janet Umphrey and Carol Umphrey; brother-in-law, David Lee (Susan) Johnson of Valdosta; four grandsons; one granddaughter; two great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. The memorial service for Jack Umphrey will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Hwy 212 North, Covington GA 30016. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary beginning at 3 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Abbey Hospice Foundation, P.O.
