David Allen Herndon, III, 80, of Spring, Texas, passed away April 23, 2017. He was born in Shreveport, LA on July 25, 1936. David graduated from C.E. Byrd High School and received his Bachelor of Science from Centenary College, where he was a member of the ROTC and Kappa Alpha Order.He was married to Carol Ann DeShazo on January 23, 1960.

David had a career in the oil and gas industry for Barnwell Drilling, Grigsby Oil & Gas and Union Texas Petroleum.

He served for many years on the board of Jetty East Condominium Association in Destin, FL. as director, treasurer and president. He was also a member of the board of directors for Home Federal Bank in Shreveport, LA.

David is survived by his son; David Allen Herndon IV and his wife Robin Herndon, daughter; Laura Herndon Wendt and husband Bruce Wendt, grandchildren; Rachel Stell, Sam Stell, Hilary Wendt, Jennifer Herndon, Rebecca Herndon, Kathryn Herndon, siblings; Daniel Rogers Herndon and wife Lola Weir Herndon, George and Anita DeShazo, and Paul DeShazo.

Funeral arrangements will be held at 6:30 p.m., April 29, 2017, at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Klein United Methodist Church in David’s name.
