Albert Milton Brast was born on June 18, 1927 in Kenney, Austin County, Texas. The son of Albert and Emma Peters Brast, he grew up on the family farm outside Bellville and attended the Oak Ridge School and Bellville School.

On April 21, 1945, he was united in marriage with Lorene Lueckemeyer in Bellville. He was called to serve his country during World War II for the Army in 1945. He made the rank of Staff Sergeant before returning home in 1947. He and Lorene moved around to different places in Texas but lived out their last years in Bellville. They were married for 61 years until she passed away in 2007.

During his working years, Albert worked for San Bernard Electric, Zapplac's Locker plant as a butcher, and Sandra Grocery Store. For 30 years he worked as an electrician for Texas-New Mexico Power Company in West Columbia, Texas. He and Lorene lived in Brazoria for 45 years before moving back to Bellville. Albert loved to dance, bowl, play dominos, and did lots of wood working.

Albert passed away April 28, 2017 in Brenham, TX. He was 89 years old.

He is survived by his children, Carol Ann Gibson & husband, Tommy, of Wallis, and son, Larry Brast & wife, Vicki, of Sherman; grandchildren, Keith Brast & wife, Shelley, of Bellville, Corey Brast of Oklahoma, and Chandra Trevino of Angleton; great-grandchildren, Kyle & Megan Bates, Kolyn and Kennadi Brast, and Aubrie and Tripp Brast; also, great-grandchildren, Jayden Bates and Elise Davenport.

Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Knesek Funeral Home in Bellville, with Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. The burial is at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville. Pallbearers are Kolyn Brast, Kyle Bates, Curtis Harvey, Brian Smith, Chris Kessler, Bobby Neumann, and Bob Brezina.
