John Leonard (J.L.) Woody Jr. 94, of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Family Care Center in Kingston, Oklahoma.  He was born on September 22, 1922 in Madill to the late John Leonard Woody and Lucille Brockman Woody. J.L. graduated from Madill High School in 1940 and married Margaret Regina Godfrey on June 6, 1945 in Bakersfield, California and she preceded him in death on March 14, 2015. He joined the Army Air Corps serving during World War II as a 1st Lt. Flying Instructor. J.L. and Peggy lived in Bakersfield before moving to Norman, Oklahoma where he graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in Business Administration. They moved to Madill in 1946 where they owned and operated Woody Motor Company and Woody Land & Cattle Company. J.L. was instrumental in the founding and building of Marshall Memorial Hospital, where he served as board chairman for many years. He was a member of the Texoma Medical Center Foundation, Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association and Madill Rotary Club. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Madill. J.L. enjoyed international traveling, boating, air shows, bicycling and snow skiing.
