It is with sadness that the family of John “Jack” Jenkins announce his passing on April 22, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 81 years.

Jack was the beloved husband of 35 years to Sylvia (nee Ouellette); father to daughters: Debbie (Denis) Beauchesne, Faye (Wayne) Chezick, Gale Shannon, Brenda (Jim) Peters, Deborah (Barry Gallivan) Jewitt, Wendy (Dwayne) Vandale, Lou (Kevin) Lovely, Anita (Ed) Orr and April (Darren St. Germain) Jenkins; and his son: Ken (Karen) Jenkins. He is survived by his siblings: Dan Jenkins, Bob (Pat) Jenkins, Pat (Cliff) Brosnikoff, Barbara (Marcel) Joubert, Mary June Pyche, Tom (Evelyn) Jenkins, Judith (Robert) Adrian and Reg (Irene) Grimwood. Jack will be fondly remembered by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by: his parents: Percy and Dorothy (nee Grimwood); and his son: Gerald Wayne Jenkins, in March of 1982.

Jack was a selfless and caring man as anyone who knew him could attest to. His shoes will to be hard to fill. Jack, as we know, was the epitome of the word “Dad”, as he was a dad to so many. Anyone who knew Jack called him Dad or Grandpa, because he made everyone he touched feel welcome. He always had a joke, kind word, advice, a shoulder to cry on and was full of endless wisdom. It takes a wonderful man to give that kind of love to children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, family and strangers.

He showed compassion and true leadership in a world where you rarely see it anymore. He was always helping others and gave of his time freely to anyone who needed it. He was a “Jack of All Trades”, working all of his adult life from setting pins at the bowling alley to Park Warden at Waskesiu to caretaker at Carlton High School, and assembling bikes at Wal-Mart, all the while knitting for craft markets! He welcomed everyone with open arms, be it a good meal, a cup of coffee, or a wise word. He was well known and respected by former coworkers, friends, family and even the neighborhood children. He had a wonderful wit and you could always count on him for a perfectly timed joke or comment. From his one liners to the witty commentary when you least expect it, quips or quotes it was all great. One thing for sure is he will be greatly missed.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 1:00 pm, MacKenzie Chapel, 130 - 9th St. E, Prince Albert, SK with Rev. Tony Thompson as Officiant. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, followed by lunch at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2.
