David Alan Hamm, 53, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 26, 2017, in Dallas.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Entombment: Independence Chapel in Greenwood Mausoleum. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Live Oak Room at Greenwood.
David was born in Fort Worth, to Alan and Nancy Hamm on June 23, 1963. David was a lifelong resident of Tarrant County and lived in the cities of North Richland Hills and Colleyville. David was a graduate from LD Bell High School and was a longstanding member of the Smithfield United Methodist
Church. Out of school, David worked in his family's business, Town and Country Drug, before starting his own. For almost 20 years David owned Classic Image Car Wash where he made the customers number one. Many of those customers became close friends. In fact, David's circle of friends was extraordinary. He didn't care where you were from or what you did; he would be your friend. Being one of David's friends
meant that you could count on him for anything. He was always first to volunteer to help and it didn't matter what time of day it was or how far away you were. He was kind and thoughtful and always ready for a laugh. People just wanted to be with him. David and his family loved to travel and made friends wherever they went. Those friends, too, joined his large circle. Not only did David have a large circle of friends, David was more than a friend to many.
David was like a father to many over his lifetime. He changed the lives of everyone he touched. He instilled values, a sense of purpose and a desire to help others as he did in everyone he met. His generosity to others knew no bounds. David had a servant's heart and a gentle and loving spirit and many lives are better for knowing him.
David was the happiest when he was outside. Time spent at the lake was his favorite pastime but simply being anywhere outside made him happy. David was fun-loving and loved to laugh. He loved to entertain at his home. He loved cooking for friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Nancy Hamm.
Survivors: Loving wife of 28 years, Sheree; daughter, Ashley and her fiancé, Brian Kenner (who David called his son) of Colleyville; sisters, Jean Anne Hamm of Southlake and Carolyn DeGuire and her husband, Derek of Argyle; nephews, Dustin and Austin; niece Maddie; aunt, Rayanne Carlock of Colorado City; and many friends, especially Kelli, his four legged best friend.
