Robert Dean "Bob" Zugg, 70, of McHenry, Illinois, formerly of Normal, Illinois, died 12:13 a.m. April 21, 2017 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.

Bob was born on May 15, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of George L. and Lela E. (Jones) Zugg. He married Karla (Tudor) Zugg on October 16, 2010.

Surviving are his wife, Karla T. Zugg; his children, Kenneth Zugg, Tonya Zugg, Matthew Zugg, Jennifer Nichols (Matt) Baugh and Clint (Kelsey) Nichols; four grandsons and three brothers, David (Lyn) Zugg, Edgar (Cindy) Zugg and James (Judy) Zugg.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Bob, a Vietnam Veteran, honorably served his family, friends and Country in the United States Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic First Class for 23 years, retiring in 1989. During his time of service, he completed several sea tours on various carriers internationally, including the VF-21 Freelancers during Vietnam aboard the USS Ranger, and was stationed at various bases across the Country, including NAS North Island, NS Charleston, and NAS Andrews. He received numerous commendations throughout his Naval career. As a civilian he continued to honorably serve the U.S. Military for another 15 plus years. At the time of his passing, he was working as a private Crew Chief for Priester Aviation at Chicago Executive Airport.

Bob enjoyed his airplane, his muscle cars, (especially his Dodge Challenger), golf, baseball, football and NASCAR.

Most of all Bob loved his family, his friends, and his work. He will be greatly missed by many.
