Irene Mary Sikes, 91, passed away April 27, 2017, in Cortez, Colorado. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., May 7, 2017, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., May 8, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Irene was born in Riomedina, Texas, to the late Joseph Benjamin F. Sittre and Josephine Karm Sittre. Irene married Odis Robert Sikes on January 25, 1949, and was a homemaker raising their children. She worked for Hagger Slacks during the mid-1960s and went back to school to receive her GED and then went to nursing school at Navarro College and worked as a nurse in private home care and at the Leisure Lodge Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Odis Robert Sikes Sr.; brothers: Jacob Sittre, Robert Sittre, and Walter Sittre; and sister, Marguerite Todd.

Survivors include her sons, Odis Robert Sikes Jr., of Yellow Jacket, CO, and Billy Mack Sikes and wife, Deborah, of Corsicana; grandchildren: Kristina Inabinet, Kimberly Hutchins, Mary Matteson Sikes, Jordan Kaiser, Joshua Sikes, Matthew Sikes, and Sophia Gray; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
