Clyde Walter Morris
March 22, 1940 - April 25, 2017

Clyde Walter Morris of Cullman, Alabama died April 25, 2017 at the age of 77.

He entered the presence of the Lord in heaven because before he died, while a teenager, he acknowledged his sins separated him from God, he agreed the penalty for his sins was death, he confessed his sins, he believed God’s son Jesus died as atonement for his sins, he believed Jesus was resurrected from the dead and he asked Jesus to be Lord of his life.

Clyde was born March 22, 1940. His mother Pauline Morris White and father Joseph Walker Morris predeceased him.

He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Sue Shaw Morris; his three daughters Leighanne (Kyle) Faught, Melonie (Todd) Clemons, Christi (Lewayne) Allred; his grandchildren Bethany Faught, Joshua (Gayle) Faught, Zachary Faught, Lexi Clemons, Jake Clemons, Chris Allred, Jessi Allred and John Connor Allred; his great grandson Given Joshua Faught; his two brothers Fred (Francis) Morris and Wayne (Geraldine) Morris, and many nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.

Clyde graduated Holly Pond High School in 1958 and was an accomplished athelete playing varsity basketball and baseball for the Broncos and playing many years of independent league baseball. He was an avid golfer with 2 holes in one. In 2012 he was inducted into the Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame. Soon after graduation he began a 44 year career with Cullman Products where he became Production Manager.

On June 4, 1961 he married his high school sweetheart Sue Shaw and faithfully loved her as Christ loves the church. His faith in God and love and devotion to his bride built a foundation for a loving home for their three girls.

Clyde was a servant by nature. He served many years in the National Guard, as a Dixie Youth baseball coach and as an official for football, basketball and baseball. He was an active member of East Side Baptist Church for 56 years and served as a deacon. Clyde strived to live well in all that he did and live life to the fullest. Whether a handyman, painter, carpenter, a dependable neighbor to the elderly, attentive helper to single mothers, a teacher of technique for the sports his grandsons enjoyed, watching animated movies with the granddaughters, vacationing with friends and family, helping tee up a ball then line up a shot for friends who couldn’t quite play the game as they once did, sharing a cup of coffee with his Saturday morning pals or taking his buddies for a ride, Clyde touched so many lives through his servant spirit. He never broadcast his efforts but all who knew him knew that he would sense their needs and take action. Daddy showed us by example how to live out faith in God, such a sweet aroma.

The visitation for his family and friends, will be Friday April 28, 2017, at Cullman Heritage, from 6 to 8 pm. His funeral and celebration of life will be Saturday April 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at East Side Baptist Church and the family will receive friends at 10 am. He will be buried at Holly Pond Cemetary.

Pallbearers will be nephews Freddie Morris, Mitch Morris, Mike Morris, Peyton Morris, Gunter Morris, Keith Wise, Chris Shaw and Jeff Stricklin.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East Side Baptish Church or Gideons International.
