Vernon L. "Lonnie" Walker Jr., 71, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Lonnie was born in Jonesboro and lived much of his life here.

He served 16 years active duty in the U.S. Army and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Following military service, Lonnie worked in manufacturing before retiring. Lonnie enjoyed watching movies, especially Westerns and was a Dallas Cowboys football fan.

He was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Walker III; his father, Vernon Walker Sr.; two brothers, David Walker and Jimmy Walker; and a nephew, Noah Walker.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Leighia and Scott Park of New Braunfels, Texas, and Shannon and Noel Forrest of Ponchatoula, La.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Duston Walker of Black Rock and Tony and Rebecca Moody of Prosper, Texas; his mother, Lurane Walker Daugherty of Jonesboro; one brother and his wife, Dan and Peggy Walker of Jonesboro; a sister-in-law, Sharon Walker of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
