Appears on the 1860 census for Greenbush, N.Y aged 12 years, the son of George H and Amanda Wagner.
With his older brother, James H Wagner, made the short trip to Troy, N.Y, and on the 1st March 1865 enlisted in Co. G 117th New York Infantry, stating he was 18 years of age, and a labourer by trade.
Both boys seem to have put their ages up by a year or two to enlist.
Aaron was transferred to Co. D 48th New York Infantry at Raleigh, N.C and discharged from service on 1 September 1865, according to his muster roll entry.
Aaron married Catharine O'Brien in Manhattan N.Y on 16 June, 1870. He was aged 22 years, she was aged 16 years.
As Aaron Waggoner, he appears on the 1880 census for Manhattan, N.Y, aged 31 years, a truck driver, with a wife and three young daughters.
New York Municipal deaths show Aaron Wagner died at 319 West St. Manhattan N.Y aged 66 years, a widower, labourer.
Father and mother were George and Amanda.
Burial was in Cavalry Cemetery. Section 7 Range 30 Plot H Grave 14.
Wife Katherine died in 1898 and is buried in the same plot.
He never applied for a pension for his military service.
His older brother James H Wagner (Wagneor) who enlisted with him, died in Connecticut in 1893, and is buried in Wooster cemetery, Danbury, Connecticut. FAG number 114702245.
