Mrs. Alford retired from teaching after almost 40 years with the Gaston County Schools from South Point High School, but never retired from teaching fully. She taught from the age of nine that Jesus was her savior and continued that lesson plan until her final exam on the 26th. She received her highest award of eternal life with honors. She would like to thank Pastor Jeff Long and Pastor David Belle - Isle of Parkwood for helping her in her graduate studies as a child of Christ. Pat was an active member at Parkwood Baptist Church in Gastonia for many years teaching Sunday school.
Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her husband L.E. Alford. She was the daughter the late Ed and Nell Shearin. Survived by her sons Chris and Bryan and his wife Carla, along with nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that loved her very much. She also leaves behind her surviving brother Jesse Shearin, and sisters Deanna Schaff and Edwina Shearin as well as many nieces and nephews,
Family and friends of Mrs. Alford are invited to attend her visitation beginning at 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the sanctuary of Parkwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen - A Quiet Place.

Mrs. Alford, and her sons, would like to thank Carla Alford and the staff of Brookdale Senior living for loving her and caring for her until her last moments. Carla kept special watch over her mother-in-law on a day to day basis. Chris and I are forever grateful to you Carla.
