Alma Lois Tomlinson Bickley, 84, was born on October 19th, 1932, in Tyler, Texas, to Chester Tomlinson and Polly Johnston Tomlinson. She passed away on April 26th, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Alma graduated from John Tyler High School at the age of sixteen. She then completed a course of study at Tyler Commercial College. Her life changed forever when she met her future husband, Archie Bickley. The two were soon married and started a family in Highlands. After working for a brief time at the Baytown Sun, Alma spent her life caring for her husband and children. Alma also helped manage the family business. She loved making a home for her family and was an excellent cook.

An endowed member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Alma was active in the Crosby chapter, No. 261. She was a member of Highlands First Baptist Church for 57 years. Her favorite activities included reading, shopping and visiting with her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Archie Bickley, three daughters and their husbands, Roseanna and Don Henrichsen of Highlands, Vicki and Kent Erwin of Highlands, and Paula and Joe Carothers, Jr. of Mt. Belvieu. Meme's grandchildren are Darla Harman and Steve Lowden, Eric Henrichsen and wife Alice, Jessica Campbell and husband Gary, and Deanna Major and husband Travis. Great grandchildren include Coy and Ashley Campbell, Sullivan, Jones and Julianna Major, and Brady Henrichsen. Other survivors are her sisters Polly Dale Cawthen of Tyler, and Glenda Langley of McKinney, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Larry Neeley of Hughes Springs, and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.

Alma will always be remembered for her beautiful red hair, her quick wit, and family favorites; white fudge (divinity), white beans, pecan, coconut, and lemon pies, chocolate sheet cake, turkey and dressing, round steak, rice and gravy, chicken and dumplings, icebox pickles, and pot roast.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to caretaker and friend, Janie Lopez for her dedication, love and support.
