The family moved to Lisbon, ME where he attended school and graduated from Lisbon High School class of 1937.

He was a veteran in the Army Air Force as a staff sergeant during WWII. He was a camera technician and part of the air combat and air offensive in Normandy, Rhineland, Sicily, Ardennes, Naples and Faggia, Europe. He received the distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Following his discharge from the Army, he became a photo engraver for the Lewiston Sun-Journal newspaper retiring in 1986 after 41 years.

He is survived by two daughters Beverly Nuccio and her husband Joseph of Enfield, Ct; Suzanne Hayden and her husband Douglas of Lewiston, ME.

He is predeceased by his wife Sophie; his sisters Irene Grondin and Judith Earle; his brother Larry Grondin.
