Mary grew up and received her early education in Lennep and graduated from the Ringling High School in 1939. While attending school in Ringling, she met her future husband, Thomas Y. Hogg. Her additional education was received at business schools in Great Falls and Butte.

On January 9, 1943, Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Y. Hogg in Missoula. During WWII, while her husband was with the U. S.
