Verna Lee Tilley SHREVEPORT, LA Graveside services for Mrs. Verna Lee Tilley, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2004 at Forest Park West Cemetery, Meriwether Road. Officiating will be Reverend William E. Nolan, assisted by Reverend Winn Alley. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home, Sunday, August 1 , 2004 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Tilley was born July 25, 1925 in Marshall, TX to the late William D. and Annie R. Ratley. She entered into rest Friday, July 30, 2004 in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Tilley was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Mrs. Tilley was owner of Tilley's Rent-All. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-eight years, Lee Roy Tilley, Jr.; son, Kyle Tilley and daughter-in-law, Carol Porter Tilley. Mrs. Tilley is survived by her sons, Steve Tilley, Pat Tilley and wife, Dianne, Chris Tilley and wife, Nancy; daughters, Gayle Tilley Armstrong, Janie Tilley Boogaerts; sisters, Marie Hopson, Betty Sammons, Esther Briggs, Daisy Langford; sister-in-law, Doris Cannon and husband, L.G.; eleven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Lakeview United Methodist Church. Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel.

MARSHALL - Services for Esther Mae Ratley Briggs, 76, of Longview, formerly of Marshall, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Colonial Chapel of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Sammons and the Rev. Buddy Briggs will officiate. Interment will follow in Walnut Springs Cemetery in Panola County.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, December 28, 2007, at Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home in Marshall.

Mrs. Briggs died Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at a Longview hospital.

Born February 25, 1931, in Marshall, she was a daughter of William Davis Ratley and Lily Estelle Yother Ratley. She was a homemaker and a member of Marshall Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tim Riddle of Hallsville, Vicky and Dan Laird of Waldron, Arkansas, and Suzanne and Ed Bridges of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Tabitha Kohler, Melissa Eubanks, Jennifer Elliott, Christopher Metzger and Casey Metzger; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Daisy and Charles Langford of Longview, Betty Lou Sammons of Ore City and Marie "Doodle" Hopson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Davis and Lily Estelle Yother Davis; husband, William Olene Briggs; and sister, Verna Tilley.

Pallbearers will be David Sammons, Curtis Lynn Briggs, Jerry Pruitt, Ricky Langford, Wayne Briggs and William Ryan Ayers.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Highland Pines Nursing Home of Longview. The family is most appreciative of the loving care she received while at Highland Pines.
