Obituaries, Jewell Dykes

Funeral services for Jewell Dykes of Greenville will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Mrs. Dykes died Tuesday in a Dallas hospital.

She was born July 11, 1927, in Rains County to A.E. and Eunice Shaw Plaxco. She married Donald R. Dykes on Oct. 4, 1947, in Cumby. She worked in retail sales for Wal-Mart and was a member of the Westview United Methodist.

She is survived by her husband; a son, William A. Dykes of Greenville; a daughter, Donna Smith of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Martha Pugh of Greenville and Laura Davis of Balch Springs; and four grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers and the family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
