CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA - Jack Lee Hale, 76, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Virginia.

He was born in Dickenson County, Virginia; son of the late Vayard and Margie Green Hale. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Iretta Sutherland and Pat Taylor. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. He graduated from Ervinton High School, Nora, Virginia in 1959 and from Mountain Empire Community College in 1992. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Clinchco, Virginia. He spent most of his life in Clinchco before moving to Castlewood, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Hale; three sons, Jack Lee Hale, Jr. and wife, Arnelda of Franklin, Kentucky, Scott Hale and wife, Denise of Elkton, Virginia, and Shannon Hale and wife, Miriam of Shelby North Carolina; one sister, Dot Holbrook of Inverness, Florida; five grandchildren, Nathan Hale, Bailee Hale, Alex Hale, Noah Hale, and Mallory Comer; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside Services and Interment for Jack Lee Hale will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor Ed Stanley officiating. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
