Cheri Louise Jones, 74, former Aberdeen resident and owner of Cherie’s Restaurant in Aberdeen Square, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Cheri was born on November 18, 1942 in Aberdeen to William Herbert and Catherine Mae (Rosevear) Newton. She attended Robert Gray Elementary, Miller Jr. High, and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1961. She also attended Grays Harbor Community College.
On July 25, 1965, Cheri married Kenneth Richard Jones in the 1st Christian Church of Aberdeen. He resides at the family home in Andover, Minnesota.
Cheri owned and operated Cherie’s Restaurant (formerly The Yogurt Stand) from 1984 to 1987 when they moved to Andover, MN. She also ran a frame shop from her home in Andover for many years. She was an avid artist and very involved in the art community wherever she was. She was a member of the Artists del Norte in Minnesota.
She did colorization of black and white photos for Jones Photo, Randall Ainsworth Photography, and Rich’s Portrait Studios. She also enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. Cheri was very involved in her church, New Life in Ramsey, MN.
Cheri is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth R. Jones of Andover, MN; a son Jeffrey (Stephanie) Jones of St. Francis, MN; two daughters: Angie (Nathan) Morehouse of Seattle and Jennifer (Jon) Bennefeld of Montesano; a brother, William (Billi) Newton of Cosmopolis and a sister, Catherine (Kathy) LeCompte of Seward, AK; eight grandchildren: Thalia Pena, Devon (Amanda) Jones; Jacob, Gabriele and Averee Morehouse; Kendra, Carmen and Summer Bennefeld; four great grandchildren: Sophia, Noelia and Eli Neal; Jesse Jones.
There will be a time of visitation and viewing on Saturday, April 29th from 9:30-11:00 AM at Fern Hill Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1 PM in the Light & Life Methodist Church, Hoquiam, WA. Private family graveside to be held at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.
