Funeral Services for Vernon M. Eanes were held from the Methodist Church in Cameron at 3 o'clock last Friday afternoon with Dr. Mark Magers conducting. Mr. Eanes, 68, died suddenly of a heart attack near his home in Rockdale July 14. Mr. Eanes was a native of Chriesman but had lived in Cameron and Rockdale for many years."

Mrs. D. V. Byrd Is On Way To Texas From Germany For Funeral
Funeral services for Vernon M. Eanes of Rockdale and formerly of Chriesman who died suddenly Monday of a heart attack are pending, awaiting the arrival of his daughter Mrs. D. V. Byrd. Mrs. Byrd has been in Germany with her husband, a member of the U.S. Army of occupation, a cablegram from the daughter advised that she was scheduled to arrive in New York at noon Thursday, but at press time no further word had been received.
Mr. Eanes was sitting in his car with his wife, the former Miss Grace Philp, at Rockdale when a sudden heart attack was fatal. He had suffered other severe attacks in recent months, according to relatives.
Mr. Eanes was born on September 30, 1883 at Chriesman. He would have been 69 years of age on his next birthday. He was married to the former Miss Grace Philp of Chriesman and in recent years the couple have resided in Cameron and Rockdale.
The service, when held, will be from the Methodist Church at Chriesman.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Eanes and six children, all living. Mrs. D. V. Byrd, of Germany; Vernon Eanes of Cameron, Joe Carrol and Thomas Hope of Rockdale and John of Cameron. He also is survived by two brothers and three sisters: John and Morris of Chriesman and Mrs. Will Boyd and Miss Ruth Eanes of Chriesman and Mrs. Earl Ewell of Cameron."
