Berner, Kenneth Lee
Kenneth Lee Berner, 76, of Alpine, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at home. He was born in Fremont, Ohio on July 16, 1940, the son of the late Frank and Mabel Berner. Ken graduated from Fremont Ross High School and went on to serve with the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged on September 10, 1965. He married Margarete Berner on June 28, 1968 in Wickliffe, Ohio. She died on March 17, 2014. Ken was also predeceased by his brothers, Glenn and Howard, and by his sisters, Martha, Iva, and Lois.
Ken was a mechanical engineer for over 40 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Watkins Glen, the Montour Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, cars and woodworking.
He is survived by his son David and daughter-in-law Melissa Berner of Nazareth, PA; granddaughter, Hayden; sisters, Janet and Diane; brother, Lloyd; and by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 2-4 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A funeral service will follow at 4 pm. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
