Ernest Bjerk, 77, Mahnomen, died Thursday, March 12, 1992, in Mahnomen Nursing Center, where he had lived since December 1990.

Ernest Bjerk was born May 3, 1914, the son of Ole and Mabel Bjerk, in Ada, Minn., where he grew up and attended school. He married Cecelia Berens Sept. 28, 1935, in Ada. He worked for B.C. Ness Construction, mahnomen and Thorson Construction, Bemidji, retiring in 1975. Cecelia Bjerk died Aug. 1, 1989. He lived with his daughter in West St. Paul. Minn., and in Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home, Twin Valley, Minn.

Survivors are his sons, Kenneth and Allen, both of Mahnomen, and Paul, West Fargo, N.D., daughters, Joanne (Mrs. Richard) Heuer. West st. Paul, and Janice (Mrs. Eugene) Wightman, Milton Fla 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sister, Joyce Ankeney Moorhead.

he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Service: 2 p.m. Monday in St. Michael's Catholic church. Mahnomen.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. prayer service and to a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday in Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen.
