Funeral services for Etta Mauretta Gray, 83, of Emory were held November 15 at 11 a.m. at Emory Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Perkins officiating. Burial followed in the Turner Cemetery.
Mrs. Gray died November 11, 2011, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs. She was born September 18, 1928, in Emory to Levi L. and Edna May Davis Morrow. She married Eddie Leon Thompson Sr. in Emory on April 20, 1946, and later in life she married John William "Rusty" Gray on April 22, 1989.
She lived her life with her home, children and grandchildren as her primary focus.
she was a devout Christian with her church membership at Emory Baptist, where she was a faithful member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and TEL. She volunteered at Good Samaritans and was faithful to carry food where needed and was always ready to make and take a pie to someone she thought would enjoy it. She loved to play Mexican Train at the different homes of her ladies' domino group.
Survivors include sons, Thomas L. Thompson of Emory, Robert Dale Thompson Sr. and Audrey of St. Louis, Missouri, Steven Lynn and Tamara Thompson of Savannah, Georgia, Wiliam (Bud) and Cheryl Gray of Arlington: daughters, Sherry Ann Allen of Emory, Denise and David Harvey of Emory, Gayla Wallace of Levelland; daughter in law Cathy Lynn Henson of Eufala, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sonia Roachell, Shane Thompson, Ricky Cole, Randy Cole, Devin Thompson, Levi Thompson, Samuel Harvey, Karen Harvey, James Harvey, Elizabeth Harvey, Kimberly Catoe, Robert Dale Thompson Jr., Seth Anthony Thompson, Allison Thompson and Stephani Thompson; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Eddie Leon Thompson Sr., second husband John Wiliam (Rusty) Gray; sons, Eddie Leon Thompson Jr., Carl Ray Thompson and Jess Monroe Humphrey; three brothers and three sisters.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory.
