A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Elliott “Pete” and Bernetha Mills Owens. He was preceded in death by his brothers; George Owens and Billy Smith and sisters; Gotherine Owens, Eula Betsill and Vessie “Chick” Crite.
Dan attended Nineth Ave High School. After graduation he joined the U. S. Navy for 4 years. After leaving the Navy, Daniel lived in New Jersey for a while before returning to Brevard. He retired from Ecusta then worked part time for Ace Hardware until he became ill.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Marshall Erwin. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
