Dennis W. Hurst, 66, of Canton, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at his home from a long illness.
He was born on August 18, 1950, in Canton to Raymond and Audrey (Crick) Hurst.
He is survived by nieces Rhonda (John) Burright of Rockford, Illinois, and Monica Hurst of Peoria, a nephew Bryan (Heather) Hurst of Peoria, sister in-law Karen Hurst of Peoria, a special friend Mary AnnMurphy of Peoria, great nieces Madison Hurst and Jessica Burright, and a great nephew Joshua Burright all of Rockford Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ronald Hurst.
Dennis was an elementary teacher, he taught in Illinois, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Florida. He attended Shields Chapel United Methodist Church he was a member of the Spoon River Drive Association, and a Head Start Volunteer.
A Funeral will be held at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 2 pm, burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the Shields Chapel United Methodist Church
