Phillip "Phil" Monroe West, age 82, of Frankton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Community Hospital in Anderson.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1934, in Russell Springs, Kentucky, to the late Edd and Marie (Stephens) West.
He married the love of his life, Marie (Horn) West, on Dec. 24, 1955, and they shared more than 61 years of marriage together.
Phil retired from Irving Materials Inc., where he was an equipment operator. He enjoyed maintaining his lawn and decorating his porch with flowers. He liked horses, gospel music, and also enjoyed showing his canary yellow 1963 Chevy truck at car shows. He loved Boston terriers, playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season, and riding his motorcycle. Phil was a hard worker and loved to provide for his family. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his family.
Phil is survived by his loving wife, of more than 61 years, Marie (Horn) West of Frankton; daughter, Cathy (Allen) Sparks of Frankton; son, Ron (wife, Myra) West of Frankton; daughter, Kim Hopkins of Frankton; four grandchildren, Jeremy Sparks of Frankton, Tiffany (Josh) Davis of Frankton, Shelby West of Frankton, and Cassidy Hopkins of Frankton; five great-grandchildren, Ava Davis, Curtis Davis, Jackson Davis, Addyson Davis, and Hunter Davis; two brothers, Amon West of Russell Springs, Ky., and William West of Russell Springs, Ky.; and two sisters, Lucille Cemer of Russell Springs, Ky., and Sheila Walters of Russell Springs, Ky.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton, with Pastor Roger Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P/IOOF Cemetery in Frankton.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, and one hour prior to the funeral service at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton.
