Shirley Mae Kuhns Allison of Kittanning, PA, passed away early Monday, April 24th, 2017 at Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 2, 1932, in New Bethlehem, PA to Bill and Esther (Slagle) Kuhns.

She was a graduate of Dayton Joint High School and Clarion State Teachers College where she was an English major.

Growing up on the Kuhns farm near Goheenville, she was a capable horse woman. She was an avid reader and her interests included gardening, herbs, art, and collecting linens.

She helped her husband, James C. Allison with his surveying business. They raised their family in McLean, Virginia and returned home to Pennsylvania in retirement.

Survivors include her husband, James Allison, two daughters, Tena Knudsen and Paula Foley, two sons, Chris and James P. Allison, and her sister Judy Kuhns Wise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Esther(Slagle) Kuhns, brothers Otis (Zeke) Kuhns and James Kuhns.

The memorial will be held Thursday, April 27 at 12 noon at Concord Presbyterian Church, Dayton PA with the reception following.
