Marie Griner Hicks 93 of Ochlocknee, passed away peacefully Friday, January 10, 2020 at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday January 13, 2020 at Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at The Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery, with her nephew Pastor Ronald Plymel and Pastor Gary Folds officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
She was born to the late Arthur Griner and Estella Shirah Griner on October 31, 1926 in Colquitt County, Georgia.
She was married to William Wallace Hicks who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church. She was a farmer's wife, homemaker and worked various jobs including Jerger Johnson Jewelry, Sears and Singletary's Flowers while raising her family. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, arranging flowers, sewing and reading.
Survivors include: William Timothy Hicks (Regina) of Ochlocknee, GA, Marietta Gale Stewart (George) of Thomasville, Alvin Wallace Hicks (Lana)Ochlocknee, grandchildren: John Hicks (Angela), Tara Parker (Cory), Chris Stewart (Leslie), Brian Stewart, Stephanie Hicks (fiance Matthew), and Alison Hicks great grandchildren: Cabe Parker, Aggie Parker, Dylan Hicks, Riley Hicks, many cousins, nephews and nieces.
