Mr. Cannon was born the son of Oscar Cannon and Pearl Lee Morris Cannon on May 8, 1939 in Williamsburg County. He was a United States Coast Guard Veteran. He was a former employee of Detyens Shipyard and Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was the owner of Cannon Farms where he enjoyed farming and welding. Jack and Gerry were married on December 8, 1968 and celebrated 48 years together. His greatest enjoyment and love was his family and being called "Big Daddy" by his grandchildren.
He leaves behind three children, Carl K. Cannon, Kimberly C. (Lee) Lineberger, and J. Kelly (Amanda) Cannon; four grandchildren, Kalee Lineberger, Ashlee Lineberger, Joshua Cannon and Ethan Cannon; a sister, Iva C. Coker; three step-sisters, Odessa (Johnny) Bourne, Mildred Smith, Audrey Shoptaw; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Mims.
He was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Thelma Casselman Elliott Cannon; a daughter, Sabrina Star; and two stepbrothers, Henry Elliott and Clifton Elliott.
A Home Going Celebration will be 3:30PM, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Black River Original Freewill Baptist Church. Internment will follow in Elim United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the sanctuary of Black River Original Freewill Baptist Church.
