Willis Max Anderson was born in 1922 in Ottawa, Kansas to John August and Effie Isabelle Anderson on his mother's birthday. He grew up on a farm near Ottawa. He attended elementary school in a one teacher, one room schoolhouse. He graduated from Ottawa University and attended graduate school at the University of Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy stationed in the Philippines. He was employed as a research chemist for Shell Chemical Company in Deer Park, Texas in 1948 and retired after 38 years.
He married his wife, Lois Lam, in 1949. They lived in Pasadena, Huntsville, China Spring and Waco Texas. He was an active member of the Methodist Church in these cities. His activities included wood working, photography, and church related activities.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Dr. John A. Anderson, granddaughter, Laura Anderson Mahoney and husband, Josh, all of Louisville, KY, his daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Morrow and husband, Charles (Chuck) W. Morrow of Waco, TX.
