Gene was born in Philadelphia, Pa in 1918, and graduated from St. Bonaventure's University in New York.
He moved to California in 1943 and soon married Eileen, the love of his life. He worked as a Housing Supervisor for the City of San Jose and retired in 1980. A highlight of his life was traveling to Haiti where he spearheaded the building of a sanitation school for the Haitian people.
Gene was happiest when surrounded by his family. He also loved hitting the golf ball with his good buddy, Bob Leininger.
Throughout his life, Gene was an active member of his community, serving on his children's school boards and volunteering as a Eucharistic minister, who also visited with the sick and disabled.
He faithfully attended daily mass, and his family will always remember him for his kindness, honesty and patience.
Visitation will be held at WILLOW GLEN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1039 Lincoln Ave., San Jose, from 4-7pm, Tuesday, August 20, with Rosary beginning at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Christopher's Church, 2278 Booksin Ave, San Jose, on Wed, August 21, at 9:30am. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
