Lucretia was the daughter of Benjamin Coplin and Deborah Shinn from Harrison County, VA (now WV). She was born around 1783 and married George Scott in Harrison County, VA (now WV) on Aug 24, 1809. In or around 1832, George, Lucretia and a few of their younger children moved to Shelby County, OH where George purchased land. Lucretia was 77 years old in the 1860 census and was living with her son, Absalom Scott, in Shelby County, OH . It is presumed she died in or around 1865. George died in 1840 and is buried in Toland Cemetery, Shelby County, OH. It is probable that Lucretia was buried beside her husband George. The cemetery is now a pile of headstones and hers cannot be located and George's is no longer visible as well. George and Lucretia had many children and some to this date are unknown. The children we have positively identified are: Deborah Ann Scott (1818-1852); George L Scott (?-1845); Absalom Scott (1820-1883); and Elizabeth Jane Scott (1822-1849).
