Lucy attended Hatley School. On August 1, 1942, she married James Aarron Vaughan, son of Ellie and Ella Vaughan, and they were blessed with three daughters. Lucy lived a long and courageous life devoted to her family, in whose hearts she will live on. She raised her young daughters alone after her husband died in 1956. Finally, she was hired as one of the first woman at True Temper and she worked there for 16 years prior to becoming a Homemaker.

She loved the Lord and she was a faithful member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. Lucy was strong-willed and the Matriarch of her family who was loving and a great provider. She was very active in the lives of her family members. She attended the sports games of all her family and was an avid gardener. Lucy was a Cancer Survivor, having fought breast cancer in 1991 and lymphoma in 2000. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grands, greats and her great-great-grand. Lucy liked to go shopping and listen to Gospel music, especially by Alan Jackson. Some of her favorite past-time activities included spending time with her cats, socializing while getting her hair cut, and eating out at Pickle on the Hill, Stanford’s, and Huddle House. She will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.
