She was born in Greenwood November 27, 1919, a daughter of the late William Henry Jackson and Maccie Butler Jackson.
She devoted her life to her husband Jim Holmes for almost 63 years. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church, president of the Farmers & Community Leasers Club. She was a graduate of Brewer High School Bettis Academy in Edgefield, SC, and was certified as a school teacher with the State of South Carolina.
She is survived by two sisters, Nannie J. Wilson of Harlem, NY, and Mottie J. Tate of Sun City, AZ; and several devoted nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. Stanley Haltiwanger officiating.
Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews and Trustees of Good Hope Baptist Church. Flower bearers will be Missionaries and members of the Sunday School. The staff of Percival Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Holmes family.
