Thelma was a stay at home mom and homemaker, active in Girl Scouts for many years, and later worked in the office for Inmont in Toledo.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton. She was also very active while living at the Vineyard on Catawba where she worked in the gift shop and did the bookkeeping, and where she was a member of the "Go-Getters" Club. Her hobbies included baking, which led her to work at various bake sales; cooking, anything with crafts, sewing, knitting, ceramics, working crossword puzzles and making pillows for cancer organizations. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and also her friends at the Vineyard.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorna (Mike) Garber, Oak Harbor, Ohio; granddaughters, Jennifer (Dave) Schenk and Beth (Cesar) Garza; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Cory and Mia Schenk, and Ileana and CJ Garza. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Donald, Raymond, and Norbert Mehling.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 2-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, where members of the Altar Rosary will pray a rosary at 7:30pm .
On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John Missler officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton.
