Gladys Evelyn Cook, the daughter of Clemon Glenwood and Thelma Mae (Mitchell) Wilson, was born November 5, 1923, in Tarkio, Missouri. She attended Tarkio High School.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Lewis Russell Stevens on May 11, 1941. They had three daughters, Rose, Judy and Linda and were later divorced. On August 13, 1955, Evelyn was united in marriage to James Rollie Cook and they became the parents of one daughter Sheila. They made their home in Tarkio, and in 1957 moved to Maryville, Missouri, where they lived to the present time.

Evelyn was a stay at home mom who loved reading, baking, sewing and gardening, canning all the fruits and vegetables her garden would produce.

Evelyn was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Tarkio, and a former member of Maryville Community of Faith, where she was very active in the “Missionettes”, a young girls group, and the “Golden Agers.” She also babysat many of the neighborhood children. Evelyn passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at Village Care Center, Maryville, at the age of 93 years.

Besides her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by one son, William Cook, granddaughter, Staci Leigh Ann Lee, brothers, Clemon Wilson and Clyde Kenneth Wilson. Survivors include her husband, Rollie, Maryville; children, Rose (Roy) Munsey, Rock Port, Missouri, Judy (Richard) Woody, Tarkio, Dorothy Benson, St. Joseph, Missouri, Linda (Danny) Pankau, Jameson, Missouri, Sheila Wilson, Springfield, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 27, 2017, Assembly of God Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 AM, Wednesday, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. The family will be available to see friends for a short time in the church prior to the funeral, Thursday.
