Mrs. Fannie Friedman, mother of gambler Mickey Cohen died Saturday in the Villa Gardens Convalescent Hospital.
She was 84.
Her son is serving a 15-year sentence in a federal prison medical center in Springfield, Mo., for income tax evasion.
Another son, Harry Cohen, 1021 N. Crescent Heights Blvd., said Saturday he is trying to arrange for his brother to be flown here from Springfield for the funeral.
Mickey Cohen was granted a "compassionate leave" in February to visit his mother when she became critically ill.
Mrs. Cohen's condition improved, but she apparently suffered a heart attack Saturday.
She also leaves her husband, Charles Friedman, 1160 S. Hudson Ave.; another son, Louis, Beverly Hills, and two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Wiener and Mrs. Pauline Duitz, both of Los Angeles.
Services will be conducted at noon today in Hillside Memorial Park Chapel.
